Toasting has been around for centuries. But it wasn't until the 1700s that it was actually called "toasting." The term stems from the French custom of placing a piece of bread in the bottom of a glass to soak up any sediment. A good toaster would drink "down to the toast." Eventually, this evolved into the current practice of drinking to a person's health, prosperity, happiness, or good luck. Today, wedding toasts offer "congratulations and good luck" to the bride and groom. Additionally, it is used as a way to say "thank you" to the wedding attendants and the couple's families.
Tips For the Perfect Toast: If you'll be proposing a wedding toast, be sure to: 1) stand to deliver your toast, 2) maintain eye contact with the bride and groom as you deliver the toast, 3) keep the toast between 3 to 5 minutes long so you won't lose your audience, and 4) use personal anecdotes to spice up the toast. Feel free to use humor, but end the toast on a serious note.
Groom´s Toast to his Bride
Someone told me that the key to a successful marriage is to keep falling in love, over and over...but always with the same person. So here is to my beautiful bride...and to a lifetime of falling.
May the future hold us happiness,
May the future hold us health.
May your heart hold my love,
And may your arms hold my babies, yet to come.
Here´s to our future happiness together!
Here´s to the prettiest, here´s to the wittiest, here´s to the truest of all who are true, here´s to the neatest one, here´s to the sweetest one, here´s to them in one here´s to you!
Here's to a sweetheart, a bottle, and a friend.
The first beautiful, the second full, the last ever faithful.
Here's to my bride: she knows everything about me, yet loves me just the same.
May all of our hopes and dreams come true, and may the memory of this day become dearer with each passing year.
May all of our ups and downs come only in the bedroom.
May the love we've expressed to each other today always be the first thoughts during any trying times in the future
May the most we wish for be the least we get.
May the saddest day of our future be no worse than the happiest day of our past.
May the road rise up to meet us,
May the wind be ever at our back,
May the sun shine warm upon our faces,
The rain fall soft upon our fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
And may you be in Heaven ,
a half hour before the devil knows you're dead
May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine warm on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
May we never forget what is worth remembering or remember what is best forgotten
I have known many,
Liked not a few,
Loved only one
I toast to you
Because I love you truly,
Because you love me, too,
My very greatest happiness
Is sharing life with you.
Every day you look lovelier and lovelier,
and today you look like tomorrow.
The world is happy and colorful,
And life itself is new.
And I am very grateful for
The friend I found in you
Best Man´s Toast to Couple
May you have love, health & wealth; but most importantly, may you have the time to enjoy them all.
May you never lie, cheat or drink. But if you must lie, lie with each other. And if you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink with us for we all love you and wish you both the love and happiness of which you deserve.
May your joys be as deep as the ocean and your troubles as light as its foam.
May your refrigerator always be filled with Budweiser, and may all of your ups and downs be under the covers.
My wish is that your marriage will be a thing of beauty and a joy forever, always as beautiful as you are today (bride). And may the loveliness of your marriage increase with each year
To keep your marriage brimming, with love in the wedding cup, whenever you're wrong, admit it; whenever you're right, shut up.
A good marriage is at least 80 percent good luck in finding the right person at the right time. The rest is trust.
A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.
Here's to the groom, a man who kept his head even while he lost his heart.
Here's to the new husband, and here's to the new wife, may they remain lovers, for all of life
Let your love endure beyond the last sunset.
May your love be as endless as your wedding rings.
May you grow old on one pillow.
May their joys be as bright as the morning; and their sorrow but shadows that fade in the sunlight of love.
Here's to the bride that is to be,
Here's to the groom she'll wed,
May all their troubles be light as bubbles
or the feather that make up their bed!
Always love each other. Always respect each other and always be there for each other. May the best day of the past be the worst day of your future. And a bride and groom are indeed best friends. For good friends, come not with time, but with trust. Our love to the both of you Cheers!
May you be friends to each other as only lovers can; and may you love each other as only best friends can.
May your love be modern enough to survive the times and old-fashioned enough to last forever!
May your love be added, may it never be subtracted, may your household multiply, and may your hearts never be divided!!
